Ryan Leonard’s draft stock is rising. Although initial rankings placed him just outside the top 10, he’s elevated his profile with an impressive end to his season as well as a standout performance at the World Under 18 Championships.
The Nashville Predators have made major changes since the franchise beat the Florida Panthers 7-3 on February 18. Retiring General Manager David Poile, with input from incoming General Manager Barry Trotz, finalized big deals that have revamped the Predators roster and refilled the draft pick coffer as well.
Before the streaming wars, there were the cola wars. In an effort to antagonize perennial sugar-water leader Coca-Cola, PepsiCo went to battle in 1996 with Pepsi Stuff, a loyalty program that provided prizes for Pepsi Points — including, according to a TV commercial, a Harrier Jet.
Because no media story of the ’90s is complete without a streaming documentary about it, a docuseries examining a court case over an infamous Pepsi commercial is heading to Netflix.
The San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators pulled off a swap of young forwards.
John Leonard is heading to Nashville in exchange. In the middle of Day 2 of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft frenzy, the San Jose Sharks made a trade with the Nashville Predators to pick up forward Luke Kunin in exchange for forward prospect John Leonard and a third-round pick in 2023.
While he hasn’t exactly lived up to his billing as the 15th overall pick in 2016, Kunin’s game has developed to the point where he is an effective bottom-six option.
The 23-year-old became the odd man out this season, and now he’s playing for a new contract. If there’s a trend among most of the San Jose Sharks’ top-end prospects — or prospects the front office is hoping can develop into at least middle-six players — is that they were, at one point, a long shot to make the NHL.
Leonard has been on a tear, recording 7 points in his last three games. On Monday, the American Hockey League announced that San Jose Sharks prospect John Leonard was named AHL Player Of The Week for the week ending on March 6, 2022, marking the first time a San Jose Barracuda player has earned this recognition in the 2021-22 season.
As a reminder, being placed in the protocol does not necessarily mean that these players have tested positive for coronavirus.
With the 182nd overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks selected over-aged Green Bay Gamblers forward, John Leonard. This was after his second United States Hockey League season, where the winger notched 19 goals and 34 points in 58 games.
Karlsson’s comments clearly come from a place of emotion during a difficult time for him and his teammates.
The 2018 NHL Draft was one that was filled with stars. The first two picks, Rasmus Dahlin and Andrei Svechnikov have made big impacts on their respective teams.
