The Phillies have added two more to their system.
READING, Pa. — Beau Burrows had already made his way to bed in his hotel room in Charlotte, North Carolina, when his phone unexpectedly rang on a late Saturday night. Just two days prior, on March 21, the Twins released the right-hander from the minor-league contract he signed in January.
What a difference a day makes Beau Burrows was the latest addition to the Dodgers’ season review pile, thanks to some roster shenanigans in October. Signed as a minor league free agent in November 2021, Burrows was a non-roster invitee in spring training.
Beau Burrows elected free agency after clearing waivers and being removed from the Los Angeles Dodgers 40-man roster that led to then getting sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Beau Burrows got his major league debut back in 2020 but the 26-year-old right-handed pitcher has struggled to really shine on the mound. Burrows was selected in the first round with the Detroit Tigers’ 22nd overall pick in the 2015 draft.
The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Beau Burrows from Triple-A Oklahoma City and recalled shortstop Jacob Amaya before placing him on the 60-day injured list.

The Dodgers made an interesting roster move on the final day of the regular season. They recalled SS Jacob Amaya and immediately placed him on the 60-day IL, allowing them to open a roster spot on the 40-man roster. They used that spot to select the contract of Beau Burrows.
The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned Darien Núñez and re-assigned Beau Burrows to Minor League camp for a third round of Spring Training roster cuts. Burrows was among the several players to sign a Minor League contract with the Dodgers during the offseason.
With the start of Spring Training delayed one month due to the MLB lockout, it led to schedule changes once a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) was ratified last week.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and a good start to the Holiday Season. As we inch closer to that December CBA deadline, the Dodger player market has been stagnant.
According to several sources, the Dodgers have signed right-handed pitcher Beau Burrows, and outfielder Jason Martin. It’s not yet confirmed, but Burrows' deal is presumed to be of the minor league variety, while Martins is a confirmed minor league contract.

The Twins got impressive debuts from both Charlie Barnes and Beau Burrows in their return from the All Star break on Saturday. However, the bats were still on break as the team mustered only two hits in Game 1.
The Twins got impressive debuts from both Charlie Barnes and Beau Burrows in their return from the All Star break on Saturday. However, the bats were still on break as the team mustered only two hits in Game 1.
The Twins have been hit hard by injuries so far in 2021 and had an open spot on the 40-man roster, so there’s little harm in taking what amounts to being a free look at a once-promising prospect.
Burrows, 24, was drafted 22nd overall by the Tigers back in 2015 out of high school, two spots ahead of Walker Buehler.
He had just been called up to pitch on Saturday but was sent back down to the minors after the game.
