Former WWE star Zach Gowen recently revealed that he almost inked a deal with TNA (now IMPACT Wrestling) prior to signing with WWE.

Zach Gowen had signed with WWE back in 2003. He had been one of the most popular stars. He never backed off from any challenge despite his amputated leg. The only one-legged superstar even had a feud with Brock Lesnar.

His feud with Lesnar remains to be one of the most memorable affair and the fans loved what they witnessed.

Zach Gowen talks about almost joining TNA

Ahead of his WWE deal, he was offered a contract with TNA. Gowen revealed on The False Finish that fellow wrestler Truth Martini told him to wait for an offer from WWE. Eventually WWE did offer him a deal and Gowen joined the company.

Gowen went on to call Jeff Jarrett and gave him the chance to counter his rival's deal out of respect. However, Jarrett didn't counter WWE's offer and Gowen decided to sign with WWE.

He said:

"He [Martini] looked at me and he goes, 'Zach don't sign, whatever you do, don't sign.' I go, 'What the hell are you talking about? How the hell am I not going to sign a contract?' He goes, 'Listen, I promise you this, WWE will call within the week, so do not sign.'" [H/T Wrestling Inc.]

Jeff said, ‘Listen, Zach, we can’t match that money, there’s no way. We’re a brand new company, we’re young, we’re trying to grow. But listen, if you stay with TNA, I promise you that we will take care of you in terms of your character.”

Gowen was eventually released from his WWE contract in early 2004. Following that, he had stints in the indie circuit and other promotions.
