Zach Gowen Reveals The Match That Changed His Life

One of the most unique talents in professional wrestling is Zach Gowen. He is the first and only wrestler with one leg to compete in WWE. Despite having a huge disadvantage compared to his opponents, Gowen never considered it as a setback.

Gowen was diagnosed with cancer as a child, and his left leg was amputated when he was eight years old. The former WWE Superstar still managed to put on high-quality matches and entertained the fans. Recently, Gowen thanked WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg Jesse James for changing his entire life.

Apart from WWE, Zach Gowen has also competed in other top promotions as well. That included TNA Wrestling. Recently Gowen revealed that his TNA PPV debut match against Road Dogg Jesse James was a match that changed his life. He thanked Road Dogg and The Jarrett family for giving him such an opportunity.

Zach Gowen thanks WWE and it’s Wellness Policy for saving his life

Some people become a victim of substance abuse. Gowen was one such star. During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Superstar mentioned that it was the Stamford-based promotion that helped him recover and also saved his life. He thanked WWE for paying for his entire rehabilitation and helped him get clean.

“That is, and what’s funny is that we don’t understand the real meaning behind what we’re doing when we’re going through it,” Zach Gowen said. “It’s only in retrospect, yeah. Because if you’d have asked me at 19, 20 years old, like, alright, you know, what’s the end goal here? What’s the ultimate goal? It’s, man, to stay a WWE Superstar forever. And that’s all I can see.

“Because that was what was in front of me, you know, and that’s what was interesting to me at the time. But no, that planted the seeds to allow me to tap into the WWE wellness policy for them to pay for my rehabilitation at 26 years old, literally saving my life. Because when I was 26 years old, and I was at rock bottom, and I was at the most miserable I’d ever been in my life, and the most hopeless I’ve ever been in my life.”
