WWE Women’s Championship Match Announced For WWE Backlash

Bayley will defend the gold at WWE Backlash.

Bayley defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi on the April 19 episode of WWE SmackDown. Tiffany Stratton interfered, so the match ended in a no-contest. On the April 26 episode of WWE SmackDown, Stratton faced Naomi to determine Bayley’s challenger at WWE Backlash. Bayley was on commentary, but Nia Jax showed up and attacked her. Jax then attacked Naomi as well, so the match ended without a clear contender.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis subsequently announced that Bayley will defend the title against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton at WWE Backlash.

Bayley won the title by defeating IYO SKY at WWE WrestleMania 40. Naomi made her return to WWE in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble. Stratton, a former NXT Women’s Champion, joined SmackDown in February.
