Shelton Benjamin isn't motivated by championships or glory in this upcoming chapter of his wrestling career following his departure from WWE, but rather having fun.

Benjamin was among those released from WWE in September of last year. The Gold Standard had been with the company since 2016. Before this, Benjamin had been under contract with the promotion from 2000 to 2010. He is a former U.S. Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Tag Champion, and WWE 24/7 Champion.

Shelton Benjamin On His Wrestling Future

Shelton Benjamin hasn't wrestled since the final WWE Main Event taping before his release, where he and Cedric Alexander lost to the Viking Raiders. On a recent edition of the Kurt Angle Show podcast, Benjamin was asked about his future in the ring and admitted that he's yet to commit to a singular goal.

"I'm still weighing options. I've had a knock on my door here and there. I have no commitments, nothing major to announce aside from a few indie dates and a lot of autograph sessions. I've been taking my time on deciding what I want to do next."

Benjamin went on to explain what's important for him at this stage of his wrestling career.

"I am at a point in my career where I want to have fun. If it's not worth it, I want to have fun and make money, if it's not worth it, I just don't want to do it. I'm not trying to build a name, I have a name, but I want to be where I'm appreciated and featured and can have some fun."

Shelton Benjamin will be back in the ring in due time...
