John Cena Filming More Television This Summer
Source: WWE

WWE fans enjoyed an extended run with him in 2023, but John Cena is going to be filming more television this summer.

Meaning, I don’t think we will we seeing a whole lot of the future WWE Hall of Famer in 2024.

Cena took advantage of the Hollywood strikes last year and worked a decent length limited engagement.

We last saw him looking up at the Saudi night sky, taking a crushing defeat from Solo Sikoa.

Which does have some wondering if Cena might be a surprise ally for Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 even.

But, relative to the summer schedule, we are now confirming that the Hollywood star has been booked.

John Cena Filming More Television This Summer

If you follow his non-WWE projects, you may know that he landed the titular role of the MAX show “Peacemaker”, out of the DC Comics realm.

The short run series was a hit in 2022, and it has been confirmed to return for another season at least.

And now, after the delays of the strikes and whatnot, we have heard when season 2 will start filming.

According to Deadline, one of the show’s stars (Jennifer Holland) confirmed that they begin filming this summer.

Which, of course, is somewhat vague. That could be May, that could be August.

Regardless, John Cena will have some summer plans with his Peacemaker friends, so odds are we won’t be seeing a cameo at SummerSlam.

Which is sort of just another reminder why we needed to enjoy what we got from Cena in 2023. It’s possible that what we saw will wind up being his last sustained run with the company before he retires completely.

As we saw on Sunday, Cena is at home in Hollywood. The former champion gets paid well and take far less abuse due to, you know…no bumps.
