Gunther, Jey Uso, and Ilja Dragunov are going to the next round of the WWE King of the Ring tournament.

The WWE King of the Ring tournament began on the May 6 episode of WWE RAW. Finn Balor was scheduled to face Drew McIntyre in the opening round. However, ahead of the show, WWE announced that McIntyre was not cleared to compete. As a result, Jey Uso would be taking his place.

Uso and Balor battled back and forth in a hard-fought match. Balor’s Judgment Day stablemates were not at ringside, so the two stars were left on their own. However, in the closing moments, Drew McIntyre came out through the crowd and distracted Uso. Still, Uso persevered and pinned Balor with a Spear.

Monday’s episode of WWE RAW featured two more first-round matchups. First, former NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Ricochet in a thrilling match to punch his ticket to the next round. The match marked Dragunov’s first match since he was selected by WWE RAW in the 2024 WWE Draft.

Finally, in a thrilling main event, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther beat Sheamus in a rematch of their battle at WWE Clash at the Castle to advance to the next round. Ludwig Kaiser interfered early on, and Gunther ultimately emerged victorious.

The SmackDown bracket will begin on the May 10 episode of WWE SmackDown. The tournament finals will be held at WWE King and Queen of the Ring.

The RAW bracket can be seen here.

WrestleZone will have coverage of the tournament as it continues.
