A horror film titled "Dark Match" starring Chris Jericho is expected to premiere later this year.

Jericho also serves as an executive producer on the project, which wrapped filming in Edmonton at the end of 2022. Variety is reporting that UK-based Blue Finch Films has purchased worldwide distribution rights (excluding Canada) for the film and festival dates will be announced shortly.

Blue Flinch plans to market the film at the Cannes Film Market from May 14 to 25.

"A small-time wrestling company accepts a well-paying gig in a backwoods town only to learn, too late, that the community is run by a mysterious cult leader with devious plans for their match," reads a description of the movie. It's also set in the 1980s.

The cast includes Ayisha Issa (Transplant), Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), Michael Eklund (Wynonna Earp) and Jonathan Cherry (Goon). It was produced by John MacDonald and written and directed by Lowell Dean (Wolfcop).

“We quickly fell in love with the film’s heady blend of action and the occult upon reading Lowell’s page-turning script. The whole team has put together a genre film that delivers on all fronts and will thrill audiences,” said Mike Chapman of Blue Finch Films.
