The rumours about Jonathan David potentially joining AC Milan in the summer have resurfaced again after his agent made it known he was in Italy.

As Calciomercato.com recall, David ended last season with 26 goals and four assists in 40 matches played and that earned him links with some of the top sides around Europe. After a slow start to 2023-24, he is back in the goals and now has 23 (plus seven assists) across all competitions.

However, he has a contract expires on 30 June 2025, so the rumours are only becoming more and more insistent. A renewal with Les Dogues is to be ruled out, because David feels ready for the next step in his career.

Given that the Canadian will not extend his agreement, the Ligue 1 club will not grant any discounts and the asking price will remain close to €40m, with €35m a starting point. Furthermore, there is no shortage of competitors in Italy.

Milan continue to monitor his profile, but Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio – together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic – are also looking at other leads such as Viktor Gyokeres, Santiago Gimenez, Benjamin Sesko and, above all, Joshua Zirkzee.

The Rossoneri hypothesis cannot be discarded, given the expiring contract and the low salary (€1.68m gross per season), but there is competition: Juventus have been mentioned, while Napoli see the Canadian as the perfect replacement for Victor Osimhen.

Meanwhile, his agent was present in Milan last night. Nikos Mavromaras – founder and CEO of Axia Sports Management – showed that he was in Italy on his Instagram profile, yet the report adds that Milan have not met David’s agent to discuss a deal. Not yet, anyway.
