Manchester United gain financially from Jadon Sancho’s route to Champions League final

Manchester United will receive a financial boost after Jadon Sancho reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga outfit eliminated Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final stages on Tuesday night to secure their place in the final.

Taking nothing away from them, Borussia Dortmund are the worst* Champions League finalist in years, and one of the best things for the competition. They have in large part got through due to the luck of the draw.

It’s also good that none of the state-owned football clubs will be in the final.

Dortmund will find out who they will face at Wembley in the final tonight when Bayern Munich take on Real Madrid in the other semi-final.

Although BVB felt they were the main beneficiaries from Sancho’s return to the club in January, United included additional payment clauses dependent on appearances and achievements.

You won’t see the social media team at BVB posting about that.

BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone believes United could receive €4 million in bonus payments.

Sancho has featured in the majority of games since his move to Dortmund. That means United will be expecting the maximum sum agreed between the two clubs.

Does this mean United get paid when Sancho loses the final?
