Everton beat Newcastle United 3-0 on Thursday to move out of the Premier League's relegation zone for the first time since receiving a 10-point penalty.

All three of Everton's goals came late in the second half following errors by Kieran Trippier.

The Newcastle right-back kicked thin air in the 79th minute which allowed him to be tacked by Dwight McNeil, who then carried the ball forward into the penalty area before arrowing a fire shot into the top corner.

Trippier lost the ball again in the build-up to Everton's second goal, which was scored by Abdoulaye Doucoure following good work from Jack Harrison.

Everton wrapped up a resounding victory in added time when Beto scored the first goal of his Premier League after running onto a through pass by fellow substitute Nathan Patterson.

Beto's goal was checked by the VAR for a possible offside. However, replays clearly showed that Beto had been kept onside by the positioning of Trippier.

Thursday's win moved Everton up to 17th in the EPL table.

Without the club's deduction of 10 points, the Toffees would be 10th.
