Fabrizio Romano dismisses Manchester United managerial links

Manchester United have yet to contact any manager who has been linked with succeeding Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

It has been a challenging season for United, although we could still win the FA Cup. Ten Hag’s main objective was to qualify for the Champions League in consecutive seasons. That seems unlikely after a string of poor results.

As things stand, United are seventh in the Premier League and 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.

Even if United end their eight-year wait for FA Cup success, the media seem to believe Ten Hag is at serious risk of getting sacked at the end of the season.

New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group are expected to make an array of changes in the summer, but it remains to be seen if Ten Hag will keep his job ahead of his third campaign at the club.

The reported managerial targets include England boss Gareth Southgate, Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann and former Chelsea manager Graham Potter.

Romano has dismissed claims that United have begin talks with Southgate, Nagelsmann and Potter.

“At the moment, they haven’t made contact with Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate or Julian Nagelsmann, from what I understand,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“INEOS know Graham Potter very well because they wanted him at Nice. For sure, he is a manager who is appreciated, but it doesn’t mean that they appreciate the same manager for Nice and Manchester United.

“They didn’t make recent contact with Graham Potter for the Manchester United job, from what I understand, so that’s the situation around him.”
