Daniel Maldini will meet Milan with Monza on Sunday night and reveals negotiations with the Brianzoli’ didn’t last long’ but is unsure his father Paolo will return to football.

Maldini had started the season at Empoli, but ended his loan spell in the January transfer window, joining Monza on a temporary transfer from Milan.

Rossoneri and Brianzoli meet in a Serie A game at the U-Power Stadium tonight and Maldini, son of the legendary Milan and Italy defender Paolo, released an interview with Il Corriere della Sera prior to the game.

“Negotiations didn’t last long. They informed me about the opportunity at 2 pm, and at 6 pm, I had already arrived in Milan,” he said.

“I felt at home as soon as I heard Galliani wanted to rely on me. It was easy to make this choice. I thought it was the right decision for my growth.”

Maldini, 22, added that he often talks to Italian players at Milan and recently met with Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud.

The Italian attacking midfielder insisted that his “dream has never changed” as he wants to return to San Siro “as a protagonist.”

“Meeting Milan always is a special emotion, it will never be a game like the others for me.”

He also praised Monza coach Raffaele Palladino, one of the most exciting emerging coaches in Serie A: “He often speaks with many of us,” he said.

Milan surprisingly sacked Daniel’s dad Paolo last summer, but the Monza talent doesn’t know where his father will return to football with a different club.

Asked whether the ex-Milan defender misses football, Daniel replied: “Perhaps, maybe a little. But he’s on holiday now, and he’s doing well.”

Regarding his father’s Milan exit, Daniel said: “These things happen. Relationships can end at work, but please don’t make me say more.”
