It’s not clear what the video leaking of Kevin Weekes in a Seattle fish market is, but footage of him apparently being part of the draft selection process for the Kraken is quickly being spread around social media. In the video, he’s standing beside a worker who accepts a flying fish, and on the fish is the name of the player Seattle is selecting from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

As much as it might be fun to speculate he’s a part of the draft selection process for the Kraken, this is probably not at all something official from the Kraken organization.

There’s talk that celebrities will play a big role in the Kraken announcing their expansion draft selections. While Weekes might not be considered a “Seattle celeb”, he’s a prominent name in the NHL and the video of him in a fish market is hard to simply ignore. Whether this is test footage or actual footage that will be used later as the Kraken share the names of the players they’ve picked from 30 NHL clubs, that Weekes is involved has a lot of people questioning what’s going on.

You can see the video below:

Keep in mind, this may not actually be an official video leak. Sure, the Kraken could take Kerfoot. In fact, they probably will. But this might not be the way they do so. Weekes did confirm that he’s covering the expansion draft as a member of the media, so for all we know, this is he and his network shooting test footage in preparation for the draft coverage they’ll be looking to provide.

One other thing to consider is that there’s still lots of time for the Kraken to make their selections official. They could change their minds, they could make a trade or they could do a lot of other things between now and the draft that would make any official footage being shot totally outdated by the time the selection actually rolls around.
