Sergei Bobrovsky has shown no signs of slowing down in big year for Panthers
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

After a dominant playoff performance that led the Florida Panthers to the Stanley Cup Finals last summer, Sergei Bobrovsky has shown no signs of slowing down in 2023-24.

The 35-year-old Russian netminder is having a masterclass of a season, posting a 32-15-3 record with a league-leading 2.38 GAA, a .916 SV% and four shutouts in 51 appearances. Despite losing his last four appearances, Bobrovsky is still one of the best goalies in the NHL and will be a big reason if the Panthers hope to repeat as Eastern Conference champions this season.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk are joined by former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton to discuss his favorite keepers of the crease in the league, and whether Bobrovsky can continue his winning ways in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Frank Seravalli: Connor Hellebuyck is getting a lot of love, Thatcher Demko is getting a lot of love, but who else is on your radar for some Veznia Trophy consideration?

Carter Hutton: Sitting here as a retired 38-year-old goalie, watching Bobrovsky do what is does is impressive to me. He’s an ageless wonder and plays a ton of minutes. Last year, we looked back on that Panthers team before the playoffs and thought his seven-year, $70 million contract was a killer, but once they get into the playoffs, he leads them to the Finals, and if they won the Stanley Cup, he would win the Conn Smythe Trophy.

He can answer the bell, he prides himself on his fitness, and he’s helped this team by being a rock in net. I know Florida’s a good team so it flies under the radar, but when he gets dialled in, it’s very hard to beat him.

Tyler Yaremchuk: One stat category I like that the NHL has on their site is games started with a save percentage above .900 — Bobrovsky and Hellebuyck are tied for the lead with 33 games.
