Report: Wild not interested in trading Marc-Andre Fluery

The Wild are not interested in parting ways with veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury ahead of next week's trade deadline, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

"One important development as we head towards the trade deadline: Minnesota has indicated it will not move Marc-Andre Fleury. They are happy to keep him," Friedman posted Wednesday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The NHL trade deadline is Friday, March 8.

With the Wild struggling early in the season, Fleury became a hot trade candidate. Fleury, 39, has a .899 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against average this season in 28 games for Minnesota.

The veteran is in the final year of his contract and has made it clear that he's thinking about his future and whether he wants to retire this summer. Fleury has a no-move clause in his contract, so ultimately any trade decision would come down to him.

While Fleury may be off the table, there are other Wild players drawing trade interest. Winger Brandon Duhaime is reportedly drawing a lot of interest across the league.

The Wild have clawed back into the playoff race, currently sitting six points behind the Kings and Predators for one of the two wild-card spots in the Western Conference.

Minnesota is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games and has just 23 games remaining in the season. The Wild are back in action Thursday night against the Predators; puck drop in Nashville is set for 7 p.m.
