Penguins Defenseman Brian Dumoulin Signs Deal with Kraken
USA TODAY Sports

No matter how you look at his last couple of seasons, Brian Dumoulin is one of the greatest defensemen in Pittsburgh Penguins history.

After 546 games played in a Penguins’ sweater and a pair of Stanley Cup rings, Dumoulin has found a new home in the NHL.

On the opening day of free agency, Dumoulin signed a two-year deal with the Seattle Kraken that will earn him $3.15 million annually.

Dumoulin will join former Penguins Justin Schultz, Jamie Oleksiak, Brandon Tanev, and Jared McCann on a Kraken roster primed for another playoff run in just their third season of existence.

The Penguins will miss Dumoulin, however, his play may have taken steps back over the last couple of seasons, but he was a big voice and personality in the locker room.

Dumoulin was a quality stay at home defensemen for a number of seasons and often wore an ‘A’ on his sweater as an alternate captain.

Through the first 500+ games of his NHL career with the Penguins, Dumoulin picked up a total of 139 points, but most importantly played a huge role on the back end for a pair of championship runs.
