Here's a list of notable events on February 9 in Chicago Blackhawks history.

2011: Blackhawks Trade for Michael Frolik

On February 9, 2011, the Blackhawks acquired Michael Frolik and Alexander Salak from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman, and David Pacan.

Frolik became an integral presence among the Blackhawks' bottom-six forward group for their 2013 Stanley Cup run. The Czechoslovakian winger scored 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) in 136 regular-season games across parts of three seasons with Chicago. He added 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 34 playoff games with the Blackhawks.

Frolik will forever be remembered in Chicago for his clutch penalty shot against the Detroit Red Wings in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals, a series the Blackhawks won in dramatic comeback fashion.

2021: Pius Suter Scores Overtime Winner in Dallas

On February 9, 2021, Pius Suter scored the overtime game-winner as the Blackhawks defeated the Dallas Stars 2-1.

The Stars jumped ahead in the first period thanks to a goal by Roope Hintz. Mattias Janmark got the Blackhawks even with a power-play tally in the second period.

A scoreless third period meant extra time was needed, and Suter beat Jake Oettinger to give the Blackhawks a win in Dallas.

2022: Alex DeBrincat's 3 Points Push Blackhawks Past Oilers

On February 9, 2022, Alex DeBrincat's three-point effort helped the Blackhawks defeat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1.

DeBrincat opened the scoring with a quick power-play strike 1:44 into the first period. He then assisted on the Blackhawks' next two goals, which were scored by Brandon Hagel in the first period and Dylan Strome in the third period.

Leon Draisaitl's second-period tally was Edmonton's only goal as Marc-Andre Fleury made 40 saves to backstop the Blackhawks' victory.
