NHL Tuesday player props: Staying aggressive with a pair of reads

Last night we circled our two favorite spots, and attacked them with some aggressive combo bets. That paid off big-time, cashing all three of our SOG ladder spots all the way up to +1295.

We're maintaining our aggressive approach tonight, but in a slightly different manner. Parlay everything together if you so please, but at these plus-money prices, I'm happy keeping them separate.

Three bets on Ryan O'Reilly

Top-line centers have been eating Chicago's lunch of late. On Sunday, it was Marco Rossi who scored twice and logged four SOG. The game prior, Mark Scheifele scored and finished with three shots. Before that, J.T. Compher in Dylan Larkin's stead scored twice and put up four SOG. And the game before that saw Matty Beniers notch four SOG and score.

So, that's four straight top-line centers scoring at least once, and all four recording at least three shots.

Now, it's Ryan O'Reilly's turn for Nashville. This plus-matchup comes at a terrific time for ROR, as he's recently decided that what he'd love more than anything else is to start peppering the goalie with the puck.

In his last two games, O'Reilly has 11 SOG on 17 attempts, finishing with 5+ in each game. He has 3+ shots in three of his last five on the road, so it all adds up to me.

I'm jumping at this beautiful price for over 2.5 shots, and I'll also be adding bets on O'Reilly to score and go for 4+ tonight.

  • 1u: O'Reilly over 2.5 SOG (+135 DraftKings)
  • .5u: O'Reilly 4+ shots (+305 FanDuel)
  • .5u: O'Reilly goal (+185 FD)

Jack and Luke Hughes

You've likely heard that later tonight in Vancouver we'll get three Hughes brothers on the ice with Jack and Luke from New Jersey and Quinn from the Canucks. That makes for a fun storyline, one I definitely want a piece of. Sorry, Quinn, we're going to leave you out of this one.

Jack Hughes is on a tear, logging 6+ SOGs in five straight games, averaging 12.4 attempts/game. That's just outrageous volume that we need to follow, especially when we see that Vancouver is a good target for Centers, and that Jack has finished with SOG totals of five, eight and nine in his past three meetings against them.

Luke Hughes also looks good. The young defensemen has been picking up the shots of late, averaging 6.4 attempts/game over his last five, with 3+ SOG in three of his last four.

A big reason why is top defensemen Dougie Hamilton out with an injury. Luke Hughes has three shots in each of the first two games sans Hamilton, and there's reason to believe that role can be maintained. Here's how I'm playing these two brothers on New Jersey:

  • 1u: Jack Hughes 5+ shots, Luke Hughes 2+ shots (+175 FD)
  • .4u: Jack 6+, Luke 3+ shots (+547 FD)

Good luck tonight!
