Kraken forward out six weeks with upper-body injury

Schwartz has tallied eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 23 games this season. He sits tied for third in the team in points (15) with Eeli Tolvanen, with his eight goals placing him second behind Jared McCann.

The Melfort, Saskatchewan product was initially drafted No. 14 overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. He has registered 191 goals and 272 assists for 463 points in 691 games with the Blues and Kraken and won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2018-19.

Schwartz is currently in year three of a five-year, $27,500,000 contract he signed with the Kraken. The contract has an average annual value (AAV) of $5.5M.

Since Schwartz has been placed on IR, he will have to remain off the main roster for at least seven days, meaning he will miss the Kraken’s quick trip through eastern Canada where they face the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens. He already missed Thursday’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Kraken sit fifth in the Pacific Division one point behind the Calgary Flames, they are 12 points back of the first-place Vegas Golden Knights. They sit tied with the Nashville Predators for the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Seattle is set to face the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.
