'He's Going To Miss Some Time Here': Calle Jarnkrok Injured in Maple Leafs Win Against Flyers

PHILADELPHIA — The Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing to be without Calle Jarnkrok for a while after the forward was injured in the second period of the team's 6-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

"It looks like he’s going to miss some time," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said after the game. "We’re not going to know the extent fully until we get back home."

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Cam York was in pursuit of Jarnkrok in the second period when the Maple Leafs forward fell hard into the side boards while trying to retrieve a loose puck.

Jarnkrok was tended to by Maple Leafs medical staff and did not return to action. Keefe didn't give any specifics on the nature of the Swedish forward's injury other than to rule out a shoulder or head injury.

After Jarnkrok left the game, the Leafs shuffled up their lines in the third period to offset the loss of yet another right winger with a natural right shot. Mitch Marner was injured last week in a 4-1 loss against the Boston Bruins with a reported high-ankle sprain.

"Just like we’ve had others step up for Mitch, we’ll have to do similar with Jarny," Keefe said. "He’s going to miss a period of time here."

Jarnkrok had already missed over six weeks earlier in the season after he sustained a broken knuckle in practice in late January. He returned on March 2 and has played five games before suffering this latest setback in his sixth contest since his return. The 32-year-old has 10 goals and 11 assists in 52 games this season.
