Golden Knights’ Nicolas Roy Expected to Miss Some Time

In a season where seemingly everything has gone right for the Vegas Golden Knights, they may finally have had something go the other way, as Nicolas Roy is expected to miss some time with a lower body injury.

According to Gary Lawless, Roy is not expected to travel with his teammates to Edmonton, where they are set to take on the Oilers on Saturday night. While it hasn’t been confirmed, it seems likely he will also miss the second and final game of the road trip, which will take place in Vancouver against the Canucks on Monday.

The injury to Roy is believed to have occurred in the Golden Knights’ Thursday tilt against the Arizona Coyotes, one in which the 25-year-old suited up for 15:14 in ice time. The good news here is that it isn’t believed to be anything serious, meaning he may be able to return as early as Wednesday in a home game against the Ottawa Senators. The Golden Knights will certainly hope that’s the case, as he has been rock solid this season with four goals and 11 points through 18 games.

While life without Roy won’t be easy, this Golden Knights team should be able to continue racking up wins. They were able to snap their two game skid with their win over the Coyotes on Thursday, which improved their record to 14-4-0 on the year. That has them sitting first in the Pacific Division, and by a rather comfortable margin, as the second place Los Angeles Kings trail them by five points.
