Ducks sign C Ryan Strome to five-year deal

On Wednesday, former New York Rangers center Ryan Strome agreed to a five-year free-agent contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

While terms of the deal were not released, the contract is reportedly worth $25 million.

Strome scored a career-high 21 goals for the Rangers last season.

The 29-year-old finished fifth on the Rangers in points (54) during the regular season, behind only Adam Fox (74), Chris Kreider (77), Mika Zibanejad (81) and Artemi Panarin (96).

Strome and the Rangers finished second in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 52-24-6. They advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

In 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games, Strome scored two goals and added seven assists for nine points, averaging just over 18 minutes of ice time.

Originally selected by the New York Islanders with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 draft, Strome has played over 600 career games for the Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, and Rangers.

Strome has 357 career points (130 goals, 227 assists).
