Coyotes send down two players to AHL as All-Star break arrives
Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

In the aftermath of wrapping up the first part of their season, the Arizona Coyotes have sent down two players back to their AHL affiliate.

Arizona announced that forward Justin Kirkland and defenseman Victor Söderström were both reassigned to the Tucson Roadrunners as the Coyotes’ NHL All-Star break has begun.

This news comes after the ‘Yotes lost their third consecutive game in a row, falling 3-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 27.

With Travis Dermott out with a lower-body injury, Söderström made his 2023-24 season debut in the NHL. Against the ‘Canes, Söderström played 13:20 on the ice, registering a block and a hit.

Kirkland was recalled by Arizona prior to the game, but did not play during his latest stint.

Both players will get a chance to continue competing as they head back to Tucson, and refine certain details of their game.

As for the ‘Yotes, they now embark on a 11-day break, with the NHL All-Star festivities beginning on Feb. 1.

Arizona will next play on Feb. 8 against the Vegas Golden Knights at Mullett Arena.
