Chicago Blackhawks place Jarred Tinordi on injured reserve, recall Filip Roos
Terrence Lee-USA TODAY Sports

According to Chicago Blackhawks insider for NBCS Chicago, Charlie Roumeliotis, the Blackhawks have placed defenseman Jarred Tinordi on the injured reserve for concussion protocol retroactive to Dec. 5.

Tinordi has one assist and 11 penalty minutes in 12 games this season. The 31-year-old had two goals and eight points while averaging 16:27 in 44 games with the Blackhawks during the 2022-23 campaign. He signed a one-year contract extension in April and the new contract reportedly carries a $1.25 million NHL cap hit for the 2023–24 season.

Tinordi has appeared in 165 career games over parts of nine seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, and Blackhawks, collecting four goals and 22 points. He’s also recorded an assist in 13 career playoff contests with Montreal, Nashville, and Boston.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks will be recalling defenseman Filip Roos from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. Roos has one goal and four points in 16 games this season, he ranks second among IceHogs defenders in points. The 24-year-old appeared in 17 games with the Blackhawks last season where he registered one goal and three points. He scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 12 against the Anaheim Ducks.

Rookie defenseman Kevin Korchinski will also miss time, he’s on the non-roster list due to a family and personal matter. The former Western Hockey League (WHL) champion has registered two goals and five assists for seven points in 25 games. Korchinski sits fourth among rookie defenders in the points column trailing Minnesota Wilds’ Brock Faber, Ducks’ Pavel Mintyukov and New Jersey Devils’ Luke Hughes.
