Bruins claim veteran defenseman Jarred Tinordi off waivers amid struggles

After allowing 13 goals in the span of two games against the New York Islanders and Rangers, the Boston Bruins made a move on Saturday in hopes of bolstering their defensive depth.

The Bruins announced that they claimed veteran defenseman Jarred Tinordi off waivers from the Nashville Predators

The former first-round pick has averaged 16 minutes of ice time per game with the Predators this season in seven contests. In 88 career games with the Predators, Montreal Canadiens and Arizona Coyotes, the 29-year-old has 11 points (one goal, 10 assists).

Boston still holds the top spot in the East Division with an 11-5-2 record, but it has lost four of its last five games. The Bruins' struggles can be linked to the losses of Jeremy Lauzon, Matt Grzelcyk and Kevan Miller, who all are dealing with injuries.

Grzelcyk is progressing toward a return, but Lauzon and Miller could be out for a while. The hope is that Tinordi will be able to fill in immediately and help the Bruins turn things around.
