Blues player of the game vs. Lightning: Torey Krug
USA TODAY Sports

To say Torey Krug is on a heater is an understatement.

The St. Louis Blues defenseman always felt he'd get the offensive numbers rolling at some point.

He continued his recent four-game trend with two terrific assists that helped break open a 5-0 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Enterprise Center on Tuesday, the Blues' third win in a row upping their record to 8-5-1.

Krug now has a goal and five assists after not producing a point in his first 10 games, but that's for another day. On Tuesday, he sprung Jordan Kyrou with a long cross-ice stretch pass up the right wing to make it 2-0, then no-looked a cross-ice feed to Jakub Vrana 19 seconds later to make it 3-0 late in the second period.

But not only is Krug doing what he does best on the offensive side of the puck, but his defensive duties with partner Justin Faulk continues to be exceptional.

Krug played 22:42 and was a plus-2, giving him a plus-8 rating for the season, and he again did an exceptional job closing plays out against the talented Lightning group and tied Marco Scandella with a team-high five blocks.

"[Krug's] been working hard," said Blues goalie Jordan Binnington, who made30 saves  for the shutout. "You can see it every single day behind the scenes. He's great, he's aggressive, he's finding a way to make something happen, great passing ability obviously and tonight. We love Torey."
