Blackhawks Suffer 3 Injuries in Big Win Over Lightning
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks earned an impressive 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night but didn't come away unscathed. Andreas Athanasiou, Taylor Hall, and Jarred Tinordi all exited early from the game due to injuries.

Let's hobble through them in chronological order.

Jarred Tinordi

Tinordi's night in Tampa was short-lived. The rugged veteran defenseman saw just 5:50 of ice time before having to exit the game due to an undisclosed injury.

Tinordi's last shift ended at the 15:54 mark of the first period. As the Blackhawks took the ice to begin the second period, the team officially ruled him out for the night.

Head coach Luke Richardson did not provide a postgame injury update on Tinordi.

Andreas Athanasiou

Athanasiou lasted a bit longer than Tinordi before departing with an undisclosed injury of his own. The speedy winger recorded two shots on goal before taking his last shift just over midway through the second period.

As was the case with Tinordi, Richardson didn't provide an injury update on Athanasiou. Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports that Athanasiou "seemed to be walking fine" after the game.

Taylor Hall

In just his third game back from a shoulder injury, Hall took another blow.

The veteran forward was helped off the ice after a collision along the boards late in the third period. It was a scary sight initially as Hall did not put any weight on his right leg upon exiting the ice with trainers.

While the contact to Hall's knee "didn't look great on the ice," Richardson said postgame that "[Hall] looked better in the dressing room." Additionally, Hall was walking on his own while presenting the Blackhawks' "player of the game" chain to Connor Bedard in the locker room.

What's On Tap Next?

The Blackhawks have a couple of days off before continuing their Florida road trip. They'll be back in action Sunday when they visit the Florida Panthers.

If Tinordi isn't able to suit up, expect Nikita Zaitsev to draw back into the lineup. Reese Johnson and Boris Katchouk, both of whom were healthy scratches Thursday, could replace Athanasiou and Hall among the forward group if needed. Additionally, the Hawks could elect to recall reinforcements from the AHL Rockford IceHogs.

We'll likely know more when the Blackhawks return to the ice for practice on Saturday.
