Blackhawks' Jarred Tinordi to Miss Significant Time After Facial Surgery
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a painful recent stretch for Chicago Blackhawks' defenseman Jarred Tinordi. After taking a skate to the jaw and a puck to the face in a span of 10 days, Tinordi will be "out for a while" after having facial surgery to "wire it together," according to head coach Luke Richardson.

The veteran blueliner initially needed 50-100 stitches after taking a skate to the jaw on Dec. 9 against the Winnipeg Jets. Then on Sunday against the New York Rangers, he took a puck up high and immediately exited the ice in a bloody scene. That blow proved to be detrimental as it resulted in what sounded like a painful surgery.

After joining the Blackhawks via the waiver wire, Tinordi enjoyed a decent start to the 2022-23 season. He postedĀ five points (two goals, three assists) in 25 games with Chicago.

With Jarred Tinordi on injured reserve, the Chicago Blackhawks recalled Isaak Phillips from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. He figures to get an opportunity to stick on the blue line as he skated on the second pair with Connor Murphy during Tuesday's practice.
