Anaheim Ducks sign Frank Vatrano to three-year contract

The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Frank Vatrano to a three-year deal, according to a report by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Vatrano’s new deal carries a $3.65 million annual cap hit. The 28-year-old winger scored 18 goals and 32 points in 71 games with the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers during the 2021–22 regular season.

After joining the Rangers at the trade deadline, Vatrano added five goals and 13 points in 20 games with the team during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

An undrafted player, Vatrano joined the Boston Bruins as a free agent from UMass-Amherst in 2015. He played three partial seasons with the Bruins before becoming a full-time NHL player with the Panthers in 2018–19, scoring 24 goals and 39 points in 81 games.

In 401 career regular-season appearances with Boston, Florida, and New York, Vatrano has scored 101 goals and 170 points. The 5’11”, 197-pound winger has added seven goals and 16 points in 34 career playoff games.

The Ducks now have nine forwards with significant NHL experience under contract for 2022–23: Adam Henrique, Jakob Silfverberg, Vatrano, Maxime Comtois, Derek Grant, Troy Terry, Max Jones, Trevor Zegras, and Sam Carrick. Additionally, the Ducks have 2021 No. 3 pick Mason McTavish on his entry-level deal and Isac Lundestrom as an RFA with arbitration rights.
