The Anaheim Ducks have announced the Alex Killorn contract. Killorn signed a deal that carries him through the 2026-27 season and has an annual salary cap hit of $6.25. News of the deal broke on July 1st.

Alex Killorn Contract Signed

Killorn has only played for the Tampa Bay Lightning in his 11-year NHL career. The Halifax native scored 27 goals and logged 64 points in 82 games last season. He had a Corsi for of 50.3 and a relative Corsi of -1.5. Tampa Bay originally drafted him in the third round, 77th overall of the 2007 NHL Draft.

The 33-year-old has 198 goals and 466 points in 805 career games all with the Lightning. Killorn has won two Stanley Cups with Tampa Bay and put up 17 points in the 2021 championship run. The veteran forward played four seasons in the NCAA with Harvard University. He’s also represented his home country of Canada and won a silver medal at the 2017 IIHF World Championships.

Impact of Alex Killorn Contract

Tampa Bay has been a perennial contender in the last few seasons with Killorn playing a large part in the run. However, Killorn is going way of former teammate Ondrej Palat. The latter scored a free agent deal with the New Jersey Devils after the Lightning weren’t able to find money to keep Palat.

Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois has three large contract extensions kicking in for the 2023-24 seasons. Anthony Cirelli, Mikhail Sergachev and Erik Cernak each have their extensions kicking in. There seems to not be a lot of money left to give Killorn a new contract.

Killorn brings a load of experience to any roster and a winning pedigree. He’s won two Stanley Cups and is a strong addition in any locker room. This may be the last big contract for the veteran forward, so he got himself a nice payday.
