During his time as a Utah Ute, wide receiver Britain Covey was among the most dangerous players in the country every time he touched the ball.
While he did go undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, he still worked his way onto an NFL roster after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. There, he has shined as a punt and kick returner, and has become somewhat of a fan favorite for his hard work and determination. Believe it or not, Eagles fans love a good underdog story.
On Monday, Covey had two big moments in the Eagles' 33-25 win over the New York Giants. On top of making his first career catch, he also nearly returned a punt for a touchdown taking it 54 yards.
The return set up a two-play drive for the offense, as Jalen Hurts was able to power in a score from one yard out to take the lead.
As for Covey, his first career catch was only for a gain of seven yards, but it is still an incredible moment for the undrafted, undersized, and overlooked receiver. After the game, a video surfaced of him celebrating with his family, in what may be their best Christmas gift ever.
Covey and the Eagles are set to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Covey is also getting some Pro Bowl love as a returner, as even head coach Nick Sirianni has campaigned for him.
Just as he did in Salt Lake City, Covey has defied the odds and will continue to shine at the highest level.
