Veteran Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Assistant Notifies Organization He is Retiring

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' coaching staff is undergoing some decent changes for the second time in as many seasons, with a number of positions now open after former staff departures. A number of key position coaches will have to be filled and that now includes a new special teams coordinator as longtime NFL coach Keith Armstrong announced that he is retiring on Wednesday.

Armstrong has spent the last five seasons as the Buccaneers' special teams coordinator after being brought in by former head coach Bruce Arians - who was also his head coach when he played collegiately at Temple.

Before coming along with Bruce Arians in 2019, Armstrong spent the previous 10 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons as their special teams coordinator. Prior to his stint with the Atlanta Falcons, Armstrong built his resume as an elite special teams coach with the Miami Dolphins for seven seasons and the Chicago Bears for three seasons before that - que Devin Hester.

A former defensive coach, Armstrong was able to cement himself in the league as one of the best and most consistent special teams coordinators. He consistently put together great kicking games, working with a number of elite players across the league.
