Tom Brady reacts to Travis Kelce-Andy Reid Super Bowl confrontation

Hours before the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday night, All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce went viral for the way he confronted head coach Andy Reid on the sideline during the game's second quarter. 

Retired quarterback and living legend Tom Brady addressed the Kelce-Reid situation during Monday's edition of the "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast. 

"Of course, I don't mind seeing it," Brady explained, as shared by Andrew Peters of Bleacher Report. "You know, 'cause I was a part of a lot of those things. You're thinking, emotions are so high. You're definitely not centered and balanced. You're not in a meditative state at that point. You are fully determined to go after and to win, so I think a lot of things that are said during the games, people should just let them fly off their back."

Adam Teicher of ESPN noted that both Kelce and Reid declined to reveal the exact nature of why the tight end approached the coach so angrily after Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco lost a fumble in the red zone. Reid insisted shortly after Sunday's victory that Kelce simply "caught me off balance," a comment picked up by Brady. 

"And I actually think coach Reid handled it just awesome like he always does," Brady continued. "'Cause he just said,you know, 'I was a little off balance and, you know, Travis is such a competitor and I just love that because it speaks to, you know, his leadership ability.' 'Cause some coaches would get so sensitive and all, 'You embarrassed me and you did that.'" 

As of late Tuesday morning, both Kelce and Reid were set to run it back with a Chiefs team that will try to become the first in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. The two have already earned three championship rings together. 

"It speaks to the self-confidence that coach Reid has in himself, too," Brady continued. "'Cause he doesn't take that personally at all. He doesn't look at that and feel like someone offended him. He takes it for what it is and doesn't make it more than it is and doesn't see like someone's trying to belittle him."

Perhaps more would have been made of Kelce's outburst had quarterback Patrick Mahomes not guided the Chiefs on what became a title-clinching overtime drive. Mahomes instead allowed Kelce and Reid to likely enjoy a laugh about what occurred at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
