Tom Brady: 'I wish I had a clear vision of what the future holds'

Seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady isn't hiding away from microphones following his retirement and amid rumors and stories linking him with an offseason exit from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a potential move to a different contender such as the San Francisco 49ers.

While at the Seminole Pro-Member golf tournament this past weekend, Brady said his future was still "to be determined," and he was once again cryptic during a more-recent appearance on Fred Couples' SiriusXM radio show.

"I wish I had a clear vision of what the future holds," Brady responded when asked where he may go next, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "I think for me, there’s a lot of great things and a lot of great opportunities that I know I said right after football season I was looking forward to spending more time with my family. And I’ve done that the last five weeks. And I know there’ll be a lot more of that, too.

"So, you know, I like staying busy, that’s for sure. I played a little bit of golf and I’m actually gonna see my parents tonight, which will be a real highlight for me on their turf. I’ll be sleeping in the same bed I sleep at when I was a kid. . . . So looking forward to that, looking forward to some golf in the next few days and some more family time, and then we’ll figure out where we go from there."

Brady hasn't publicly closed the door on returning to an NFL roster since he famously remarked he would "never say never" to a comeback on his "Let’s Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast before Super Bowl LVI, but Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians heavily suggested on Tuesday his employer would not allow the 44-year-old signal-caller to play for a different team this year and would instead retain Brady's rights through the 2022 season.

Brady could leave no doubt he's retired during an interview or public appearance this spring after the new league year opens on March 16. The fact he hasn't yet done so continues to fuel speculation he at the very least isn't fully convinced he's played his last snap at the highest level.
