The way-too-early odds to win Super Bowl LVII

The Bills came up just short in a thrilling Divisional Round loss at KC, but that hasn't dimmed their prospects in Vegas. Josh Allen continues to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league with a host of great weapons around him, and the defense played at an elite level in 2021.

The Chiefs have hosted four consecutive AFC Championships, and have a good shot to extend that streak with the trio of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill intact. The defense does enter the offseason with some question marks, as Tyrann Mathieu is a free agent and Frank Clark is a cut candidate.

The reigning champs don't have much draft capital or cap space and could lose Odell Beckham and Von Miller in free agency. However, they still have the top odds in the NFC with the assumption that Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald will be returning.

Vegas is clearly optimistic about Aaron Rodgers remaining with the Packers in 2022. The team had another disappointing playoff run, but have excellent talent on both sides of the ball, especially if Rodgers and Davante Adams return.

The Cowboys season ended in disappointment with underachievement and clock management issues. There remains optimism with coordinators Kellen Moore and Dan Quinn sticking around, along with developing young stars CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs. Head coach Mike McCarthy is out to finish he can finish the job with Dak Prescott in what could be a make-or-break year for the team's coaching staff and core.

The 49ers fell just short in the NFC Championship despite poor play from Jimmy Garoppolo, so there is optimism that likely switching to inexperienced Trey Lance won't lead to much of a drop-off. The offense evolved nicely with Deebo Samuel leading the way, and San Francisco's defense remains elite with Nick Bosa and Fred Warner dominating.

The Bengals have some contract situations to address on defense, but the core returns with Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase on the upswing. The big question remains the leaky offensive line, but Cincinnati has the cap space to fix it.

Baltimore's 2021 season went down in flames due to injuries. They hope a change in philosophy on defense and better health will make all the difference. A healthy Lamar Jackson will be a nice start for potential improvement.

Denver is assumed to be the most likely destination for Aaron Rodgers if he departs Green Bay, which is likely reflected in the team's early offseason odds. The Broncos do have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball without a clear starting quarterback, and new head coach Nathaniel Hackett could provide a boost to the offense in any case.

The Chargers disappointed by falling just short of the playoffs in 2021, and they have a decision to make with Mike Williams. Still, Justin Herbert showed further development as a top young quarterback, and the offensive line is in a great state.

The Titans earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC despite missing Derrick Henry for much of the regular season. Ryan Tannehill's shortcomings at quarterback were still exposed, and Julio Joens has started to really show his age. The team also has to make some decisions on the offensive line and at linebacker.

Arizona has already seen some early drama with an unhappy Kyler Murray after the team floundered late in the year. Kliff Kingsbury's late-season declines have become a trend, but a healthy year from DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt would certainly help.

Cleveland's outlook has taken a hit after Baker Mayfield struggled in 2021, but the talent around him remains excellent. The hope is that Mayfield will be able to bounce back with a healthier season, or he could be on the way out after 2022.

The Colts fell short of the playoffs after an embarrassing loss to Jacksonville, and Carson Wentz could be the fall guy. Lack of quarterback certainly leaves the Colts down in the Super Bowl odds, but the rest of the roster is Super Bowl-caliber with Jonathan Taylor, an outstanding offensive line, and several stars on defense.

There is huge uncertainty for the Bucs after Tom Brady's retirement, along with the possible exits of Rob Gronkowski, Chris Godwin, Jason Pierre-Paul, Ryan Jensen, and others. Still, there's every indication that Bruce Arians and company will remain in win-now mode, and a notable move at quarterback would resuscitate their Super Bowl prospects.

The Patriots took a nice step forward in 2021 despite getting blown out in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. The defense returned to an elite level, and Mac Jones looked like the clear future at quarterback. They enter 2022 with some nice signs to build upon.

Philadelphia had a solid second-half surge under new head coach Nick Sirianni, as the offense transformed to run-heavy and the defense held its own. There remain questions about Jalen Hurts at quarterback, but the offense has its fair share of interesting talent.

New head coach Kevin O'Connell should help revitalize the stagnant Minnesota offense with the help of stars Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson, but the team defense remains the concern. The Vikings still need help in their secondary, and star pass rusher Danielle Hunter has struggled with injuries in consecutive years.

The Seahawks disappointed in 2021, and the future of Russell Wilson in Seattle isn't clear. That will be a determining factor in their prospects next season, and a brutal NFC West division doesn't do the team any favors.

Sean Payton exited at a convenient time, as the Saints are without a long-term quarterback and have major cap issues. They have a lot of moves to make on offense without the resources that they'd like, but the defense should remain strong under coordinator turned head coach Dennis Allen.

Miami shocked the football world by firing head coach Brian Flores following the season, but the hiring of young offensive mind Mike McDaniel could be a home run. The Dolphins still have a strong defense, and could take the next step if Tua Tagovailoa can leap forward in his third year.

The Panthers have very good talent on defense and at the offensive skill positions, but they greatly need to address quarterback and the offensive line. Head coach Matt Rhule is in a make-or-break year after consecutive disappointing seasons.

Washington has a new name and likely a new quarterback in 2022. The defense finally came on late in the year despite a major injury to Chase Young, and have the talent to bounce back in the NFC East if they can find a viable signal-caller.

Vegas isn't very bullish on the Raiders despite the hiring of acclaimed offensive mind Josh McDaniels. The Raiders maximized their talent in 2021 under great scrutiny, with Derek Carr having another strong season. He will need to adjust quickly to a new offense, but the defensive depth is lacking after several poor drafts.

The Falcons got the most out of a barren roster last year, and there are huge questions with the futures of Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley, and Grady Jarrett in Atlanta. The team certainly needs things to bounce their way in the offseason.

Vegas sleeps on Pittsburgh despite a playoff appearance with inferior quarterback play from Ben Roethlisberger. The team desperately needs to address quarterback and the offensive line while also hiring a new front office decision-maker. The premium talent at wideout and on defense, along with head coach Mike Tomlin's stability, probably deserves more credit than the early odds are providing.

Chicago cleaned house with the coaching staff and front office, but fans remain optimistic due to young quarterback Justin Fields and running back David Montgomery. There are still huge holes for new head coach Matt Eberflus and the front office to address, starting with the offensive line.

The Giants have done a disservice to Daniel Jones with so many changes to their coaching staff, but they hope to have finally gotten it right with Brian Daboll. Jones has strong weapons around him, but the Giants have a lot of work to do on the offensive line and defense.

Detroit showed improvement throughout the 2021 season, and it sounds like they will stick with Jared Goff for now. The team still has a lot of problem areas to address, particularly at wide receiver and defense.

Trevor Lawrence looked like a deer in headlights during his rookie season, but poor coaching might have been to blame. He will get more stability with the hiring of Doug Pederson, but the needs on the roster are rampant.

The Jets have their fair share of interesting young players, but the success of the team in the near future will come down to quarterback Zach Wilson's development. He showed some progress late in his rookie year but has a long way to go before leading the Jets to contention.

Houston has many problems, and the entire head coaching situation seemed like a fiasco in the offseason with the firing of David Culley and surprising promotion of Lovie Smith. The roster has a long way to go after shedding so much talent over the last two years, but quarterback Davis Mills looks like a potential keeper.
