The Cowboys Continue To Bolster Their Secondary

The Dallas Cowboys made another move on Saturday to bolster their secondary depth.

They signed cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who was recently waived by the Buffalo Bills.

Rhodes made a name for himself when he was with the Minnesota Vikings from 2013-2019.

He was named to three pro-bowls in that span and even made first-team all-pro in 2017.

Now at the age of 32, Rhodes is far from the player he used to be.

But, he can still provide value to the undermanned Cowboys secondary.

Dallas has already lost cornerbacks Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis this season.

So any depth is welcomed at the position.

Rhodes was signed straight to the Cowboys practice squad, with the idea that he could contribute next week in the playoffs.

For his career, Rhodes has 127 starts, making him the most experienced player in their secondary.

While it seems unlikely Rhodes will make any impact this season, it cost them nothing to make this move.

The Dallas defense has struggled to keep teams out of the endzone of late.

Against the Jaguars and Eagles, they gave up a combined 945 yards and 74 points.

This defense has struggled to sack the opposing quarterbacks.

Plus, their CB2 has been picked on all season long.

At least the Cowboys are aware they need to add depth.

Dallas has been using free agency to try and improve their roster all season.

They have signed T.Y. Hilton, Mackensie Alexander, Trayvon Mullen, and Rhodes over the past few weeks.

It will be interesting to see how these veterans can impact the Cowboys as they head into the playoffs.
