Texans Re-Sign Jon Weeks For Franchise Record 14th Season

Despite a large focus on up-and-coming players in the past weeks, the Houston Texans made clear that they need veteran pieces to round out their roster.

One of those veterans is a long-time Texan who has spent 13 years with the team, earning the support of the Houston fan base throughout his time.

Last week, long snapper Jon Weeks was once again re-signed by Houston to a one-year deal, marking what will be his 14th year with the team.

Weeks went undrafted out of Baylor in 2008 and spent two years without a team before officially signing with the Texans in 2010.

Since then, the 37-year-old has played in 210 games and currently holds the record for most consecutive starts and most overall games played — leading former Texans receiver Andre Johnson by 41 games.

Weeks is also the team's longest-tenured player, and the only long snapper to be selected to a pro bowl in franchise history, making his legacy one-of-a-kind with Houston.

With his one-year deal, Weeks also has the chance to move into the top 200 of all-time games played, with the chance to keep his streak going if he remains in the league after next season.
