Steelers Sign Former Colts LB
USA TODAY Sports

LATROBE -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding to their inside linebacker room, signing former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Forrest Rhyne, according to multiple reports around the league.

After signing as an undrafted rookie out of Villanova, Rhyne spent the 2022 season with the Colts. He played in three games for Indianapolis, making his NFL debut against the Steelers in Week 12. He contributed strictly on special teams.

The addition of Rhyne likely signals one of the team's inside linebacker injuries are somewhat serious . Nick Kwiatkoski and Chapelle Russell both left against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and did not return. Kwiatkoski is dealing with a shoulder injury, and Russell has an ankle issue.

Rhyne will compete with Mark Robinson, Tanner Muse, and possibly Russell/Kwiatkoski for this season's final roster spot. He'll have two weeks to prove his worth before the team is forced to trim their roster down to 53.
