Steelers QB Kenny Pickett Wins Softball Game MVP
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett was named the MVP of Cam Heyward’s Three Rivers Celebrity Softball after an impressive game on Saturday night.

Throughout the night, Kenny Pickett was seen hitting multiple home runs, including at least two there were shown from the Washington Wild Things’ account. After winning last year’s team Home Run Derby at training camp, it seems no surprise that Pickett would stand out on the diamond again. A baseball player in high school, Pickett has some natural background in the arena.

Regardless, Pickett was just one of many who came out to support Heyward’s cause from around the Pittsburgh area overall. Multiple Steelers and former Steelers played in the game, including Vince Williams, Alex Highsmith, Pat Freiermuth, Connor Heyward, Tyson Alualu, and others. Other NFL players from around the Pittsburgh area such as Miles Sanders and Jaquan Brisker joined in on the fun for the game. Celebrities and personalities involved in the game included Andrew Fillipponi, Dorin Dickerson, Adam Rank, and others in a fun, competitive game.

In the end, Team Burgh led by Pickett ended up pulling out the win over the Team World in both the game itself, 16-6, and in the home run derby, 10-7. Pickett manned second base during the game for Team Burgh and batted second in the team’s lineup that was released before the game.

Heyward has now done this game for three years, bringing in celebrities and athletes alike to help raise money for his Heyward House foundation. He has been named the Steelers’ 2021 and 2022 nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his various charitable contributions and willingness to give back to the city. This is simply part of that effort from Heyward to help contribute and give back to the city that he has played in his entire professional football career.
