The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated safety Trenton Thompson from the practice squad to the active/inactive list, adding him to their roster for Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers. 

The Steelers are down a safety for a second straight week as Minkah Fitzpatrick continues to miss time due to a hamstring injury. Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal will start in his place, but the Steelers will be looking for options as their primary backup in Fitzpatrick's absence. 

Thompson joined the Steelers late in the summer but stuck around their the preseason and into the final roster cuts. He was waived at the 53-man deadline but re-signed as a member of the practice squad. 

Thompson has played in one NFL game as a member of the New York Giants in Week 12 last season. He signed with New York as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State. 

In college, he played in 57 games, starting 31, and collecting 191 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and a sack.
