Steelers DT Cleared to Play vs. Jaguars

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi will play in his team’s Week 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite a shoulder injury that limited him in practice this week.

Ogunjobi did not practice on Thursday but returned to practice on Friday and was not listed with an injury designation on the team’s official practice report.

The seventh-year defensive tackle has not yet missed a game this season before suffering multiple minor injuries. He played through a foot injury that he suffered back in training camp.

Despite not being fully healthy, he has two sacks on the season, eclipsing his total from 2022. He also has 16 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, two tackles for a loss and three quarterback hits.

It does not appear that Ogunjobi will be joined by Cam Heyward, who remains on the injured reserve list while recovering from core muscle surgery. But Heyward was designated to return from the injured reserve list this week and even was a full participant in practice on Friday.

Montravius Adams has been starting at defensive tackle in place of Heyward, with DeMarvin Leal working as the first-team defensive end in the base defense.
