Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers secured a pivotal 16-10 victory against their divisional rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, on Sunday. This marked a significant and much needed road win. Despite the offensive struggles that have plagued the Steelers throughout the season, the game showcased the prowess of their reliable kicker, Chris Boswell. In a fearless display, Boswell made a lasting impact with three successful field goal attempts, contributing crucial points to secure the win. This wasn't Boswell's first successful trip to Cincy either.

In the 2023 season, Boswell has proven to be a key asset for the Steelers' offense. With 22 field goal attempts, he has an impressive success rate of 95%, converting 21 of them. Additionally, Boswell remains perfect on extra points, going 15 for 15, showcasing his consistent accuracy and reliability.

Over the course of his illustrious 127-game career with the Steelers, Boswell has maintained an 87% success rate on field goals and a remarkable 95% accuracy on extra points. His proficiency in converting scoring opportunities has made him a stalwart figure in the Steelers' special teams unit.

Boswell Owns Cincinnati's Field

Steelers defensive lineman, Cam Heyward highlighted Boswell's influence during the Week 12 game on his podcast, Not Just Football emphasizing the kicker's ability to seize control when needed most.

"One thing on Boz. He kicked the field goal, and he hates Cincinnati's field. Just because that turf is some of the worst turf in the league. But he was like, ‘This is my field. I do own this field.’ So Boz took control and made the field goals when we needed them most."

Heyward's acknowledgment underscores Boswell's mental fortitude and confidence, key qualities that contribute to his success as a kicker.

Steelers’ Chris Boswell’s Dominance on Bengals' Turf

Boswell's comments about "owning" the Bengals' field resonate with his exceptional performance in Cincinnati. Despite the challenges posed by the notoriously challenging turf, Boswell has excelled in the Bengals' stadium, earning him the confidence to claim ownership of the field.

In nine road games against the Bengals, Boswell has demonstrated his kicking prowess by successfully converting 26 out of 27 field goal attempts—an impressive 96% success rate. His lone miss remains a testament to his consistent accuracy. Additionally, Boswell boasts a perfect record on extra points, making all 14 attempts in the Bengals' stadium.

A Steady Contributor in Scoring

As the Steelers navigate the remainder of the season, Boswell's fearless attitude and proven track record position him as a valuable asset, particularly in critical road games.
