Dallas Cowboys: Signing Brandin Cooks

The Cowboys’ season ended badly in San Francisco with a 19-12 loss to the 49ers. They’ve been more successful in the offseason with an abundance of moves that should improve their chances in 2023.

No move was bigger than the Cooks trade. Dallas gave up a fifth and sixth-round pick and in return got what could be the best No. 2 receiver in the league. If Michael Gallup can somehow regain his 2019 form, the Cowboys could have the best receiving trio in the NFL next year.

New York Giants: A wild card victory

The Giants' 31-24 defeat of Minnesota marked the team’s first playoff victory since Super Bowl XLVI in 2011. Daniel Jones went 24-35 for 301 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 78 yards. 

Things changed quickly against Philadelphia a week later, but on January 15, anything seemed possible for Big Blue.

Philadelphia Eagles: Super Bowl LVII

Can a Super Bowl defeat best remembered by a dubious holding call really be considered a highlight? It can be when your best player has his best game on the game’s biggest stage. 

Jalen Hurts accounted for four touchdowns in the game and clearly outplayed the game's eventual MVP, Patrick Mahomes. The results could’ve been better, but watching Hurts establish himself as a franchise QB should give Eagles fans solace.

Washington Commanders: Dan Snyder sells the team

Like Dallas, Washington’s best moment comes off the field. After months of speculation, team owner Dan Snyder agreed to sell the team to a group led by Josh Harris for a record $6.05B.

In 24 years under Snyder, Washington is 164-220-2 and hasn’t had a winning season since 2016. Granted, Harris hasn’t won anything with his Devils and Sixers teams either, but the devil Washington knows is clearly worse than the one about to own the team.
