Saints reportedly interview 49ers assistants Griese, Kubiak for coordinator job
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

According to Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football, the Saints are targeting a couple of Kyle Shanahan assistants in their search for a new offensive coordinator. The team has reportedly interviewed San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Brian Griese and offensive passing game specialist Klint Kubiak.

While Kubiak has been coaching in the NFL since 2013, Griese's foray into coaching started in 2022. He spent two years (2020-21) as an analyst on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" before joining Shanahan's staff.

Griese played 11 seasons as an NFL quarterback, appearing in 93 NFL games with 83 starts and completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 19,440 yards, 119 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions.

Kubiak is in his first season with the 49ers, joining Shanahan's staff after a season as the Denver Broncos' offensive passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. It was his second stint in Denver, previously serving as an offensive assistant from 2016 to 2018. Kubiak also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings (2013-14, 2019-21) and worked at Texas A&M (2010-12) and Kansas (2015) at the collegiate level.

The Chicago Bears also expressed interest in Kubiak before reportedly hiring former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.
