Rich Bisaccia happy to be with Packers team that 'expects to win'

Rich Bisaccia was thrust into the national spotlight this past fall when he went from serving as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator with the Las Vegas Raiders to holding the role of interim head coach after Jon Gruden resigned in disgrace in October. Under Bisaccia, the Raiders surprisingly earned a playoff berth, and quarterback Derek Carr later backed the 61-year-old to win the full-time gig. 

That wasn't to be, however, as the Raiders instead hired Dave Ziegler as general manager and ex-New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as head coach. Bisaccia ultimately landed with the Green Bay Packers, where he'll work as special teams coordinator under coach Matt LaFleur. 

Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Bisaccia spoke with reporters Tuesday about why he joined Green Bay this offseason. 

"Why come here to the Green Bay Packers? Yeah, it’s the Green Bay Packers," Bisaccia explained. "For me personally, [it’s] the opportunity to be at one of the marquee National Football League teams that sets a standard, that has an expectation to play to that standard every day, along with my excitement and my new energy after meeting and visiting with coach LaFleur. What he’s done here in a short period of time is unprecedented. He’s all football.

"And to be back with [defensive coordinator] Joe Barry, who I was with before — we won a lot of games together at two different places. And just to be a part of a franchise that expects to win and the standard is winning it all. To be a part of something like that, to me, is energizing."
