Report - Steelers Hosting Dynamic USFL Running Back For A Visit On Monday
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers may not be done adding to their roster even though 2023 training camp is already in full swing. The organization announced the recent signing of inside linebacker , Kwon Alexander over the weekend. With a day off on Monday, it appears the team may be looking to bring even more competition into the running backs' room. A group that features guys like Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Anthony McFarland Jr. and Jason Huntley, among others, may have a fresh face in the locker room at some point this week.

Steelers May Be Adding To Running Back Room

According to NFL insider, Jordan Schultz, the Steelers are hosting another ball carrier for a visit on Monday. Journeyman, ZaQuandre White will be in Pittsburgh on Monday.

The Steelers currently have an immense amount of competition in the backfield behind Harris and Warren and White will now possibly add to that group. White has a little bit of NFL experience after spending some time on the Miami Dolphins practice squad in 2022, but he has never dressed for a professional game. As Schultz points out, he played for the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League most recently. The tweet mentioning the XFL is incorrect.

White turned heads in college when he averaged 6.6 yards per carry in his final year back in 2021. He will need to show the Steelers' brass that he is valuable, not only in the backfield, but on special teams as well. The team is still trying to find out who the perfect guy is to replace Benny Snell Jr. If White does end up signing with the team, he will immediately be at a disadvantage after missing the first week or so of training camp.

In 2022, White played in just five games for the Stallions. He ended up carrying the ball 29 times as he rushed for 128 yards and two scores. That was good for a solid 4.4 yards per carry. He is a bruiser who comes in at over 200 pounds, but ran an underwhelming 4.63 at his pro day back in 2021. He has some solid abilities in the passing game and while he will be a long-shot to make the 53-man roster, a potential signing will bring even more competition to the locker room, which seems to be a very important theme in training camp.

Would you want the Steelers to sign White and bring him in the running back room?
