Report: Raiders hosting newly reinstated David Irving for tryout

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end David Irving was recently reinstated by the NFL, and now it appears he already has a tryout lined up.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, Irving is set to visit with the Las Vegas Raiders for a tryout. If he signs with the team, he'll reunite with Rod Marinelli, who worked for the Cowboys from 2013-19 as a defensive line coach and coordinator.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported before Irving was reinstated that he was drawing interest from at least six teams.

Irving announced he was quitting football in 2019 after the league suspended him for violating its substance abuse policy for the third time in as many years.

The 27-year-old announced his decision in an Instagram video where he appeared to be smoking marijuana. He said he was willing to walk away from football to protest not being allowed to smoke. With players no longer being tested for marijuana usage under the new CBA, Irving has made it clear he wants to return.
