It will likely get lost overlooked on a team that went 2-15 this year but the job that Ejiro Evero did with this Carolina Panthers defense can't be praised enough.

His unit lost linebacker Shaq Thompson early in the season for the year and Jaycee Horn missed 11 games in addition to several others missing games here and there. Not to mention, he had to reshape this defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4 with several guys playing new positions and doing so at a high level.

Evero is well-respected around the league and is viewed by many as a future head coach. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Panthers have blocked the Jacksonville Jaguars' request to interview Evero for their open defensive coordinator job. It's been rumored that Carolina is interested in keeping Evero as the DC and pairing him with a young, offensive-minded head coach. However, David Tepper and co. will consider Evero for the head coaching job, per Fowler.

Last week, Evero said his interview with Tepper for the Panthers' head coaching job was "great."

"Just like all the other interviews I did, it's always a great learning experience being in that setting. Thinking more globally and not just thinking about schemes and players, and thinking about how the entire organization is run. Those are all great experiences and definitely had a really good interview with Mr. Tepper last year."
